International Summer Program

KNU International Summer Program, which is taught and run in English, offers lifelong experiences for undergraduate students who want to learn about Korea by taking short-term courses and staying in Korea for 2week.

  • Period: End of June ~ Early July every year (2 weeks)
  • Place: Kangwon National University (Chuncheon, Korea)

  • How to select
    • KNU requests the recommendation for the Summer Program participants to the sister universities (1~2 students per university) on February
    • Sister University announce the information to the students, receive applicants and select given number of students to recommend to KNU by April.
    • KNU informs recommended students of notices and inquire expected arrival dates to arrange airport pickup on May.
  • Participation expenses: All costs including accommodation, meal, activity, insurance, etc. are covered by KNU (the students are responsible for the airfare and personal money.)

    • Basic Korean Class and Special seminars
    • Culture tours
      : Taekwondo(Korean martial arts), K-pop dance, Making pottery, Samulnori, Temple stay, Marine sports
      : Tour: Seoul, Chuncheon & Samcheok Campus, DMZ, field trip to outstanding Korean companies
    • KNU informs recommended students of notices and inquire expected arrival dates to arrange airport pickup on May.
  • Remarks
    • The student who is not from the sister university cannot apply.
    • he student must not apply individually to KNU but submit the application after seeing the notice from the Office of International Affairs at the affiliated campus.
    • Since it is community living, the meal is mainly of Korea food in the dormitory cafeteria or the off campus restaurants. The student with religious or personal limitations regarding food must be aware of that when applying (ex. vegetarian, etc.).
    • Given that there are numerous sister universities, the participation opportunities are not available for every student from the sister universities.
